It contains no MyAnimeList catalogue records, makes no API requests, accepts no input, and stores no visitor data.
01 / PROJECT PURPOSE
A small research utility with a deliberately narrow scope.
anirank studies how public, aggregate anime rating signals behave across titles and over time. The work is performed locally by a single developer and is intended for learning, methodological testing, and reproducible personal research.
MyAnimeList API access is requested because stable MAL anime IDs and documented catalogue fields provide a reliable, source-attributed way to identify titles and obtain aggregate statistics. Using the official API also allows the project to observe MAL's technical controls and usage rules directly.
The output is experimental. anirank does not claim to determine objective anime quality, does not operate a public leaderboard, and does not provide a consumer-facing MyAnimeList client.
WHY THE OFFICIAL API
A safer, clearer route to limited research access.
Read-only and minimal
Requests are limited to the public anime catalogue and the smallest set of aggregate fields needed for local research. No write operations are planned.
Respectful operation
Requests will be paced, cached, and retried conservatively. Access will stop if permission is withdrawn or the API terms no longer allow the intended use.

1. This public website
This static information page does not use cookies, analytics, advertising pixels, forms, accounts, browser storage, or MyAnimeList API calls. anirank does not intentionally collect a visitor's name, email address, IP address, MyAnimeList username, credentials, or activity through this page. Standard technical connection logs may exist at the hosting layer, but anirank does not use them for profiling, advertising, or cross-site tracking.
2. The local research utility
The planned integration uses a developer Client ID to make read-only requests for public anime catalogue and aggregate statistical fields. It does not ask people to sign in with MyAnimeList and does not request OAuth tokens, private lists, user profiles, or user-generated content.
3. Storage and sharing
Necessary API responses may be cached on the developer's local device to reduce repeat requests and support reproducible analysis. Credentials are kept out of this website and out of published output. Cached material is not sold, rented, used for advertising, or offered as a public dataset. It is retained only while needed for the project and may be removed when no longer required.
4. Scope changes
If anirank later introduces public accounts, personal data, commercial use, or materially different API access, this policy will be revised before that change is launched and any required MyAnimeList approval will be sought.

1. Informational purpose
This website exists solely to describe anirank and its intended MyAnimeList API use. It offers no account, API, download, ranking, recommendation, or transaction service. Visitors may read and link to this declaration for informational purposes.
2. Non-commercial hobby use
anirank is an independent hobby project. It has no paid tier, advertising, sponsorship, affiliate programme, data sale, or commercial licensing. API-derived material will not be used to create a paid product or resold service. Any future commercial proposal would require a separate review before use.
3. MyAnimeList rules and attribution
anirank will follow the applicable MyAnimeList API terms, documentation, rate controls, and instructions. MyAnimeList, its name, marks, service, and catalogue content belong to their respective rights holders. Their appearance in this declaration identifies the intended API provider and does not transfer any ownership to anirank.
4. Independence and no endorsement
anirank is not affiliated with, sponsored by, operated by, or endorsed by MyAnimeList. The anirank wordmark and monogram shown here are original project identifiers and are not official MyAnimeList branding.
5. Accuracy and availability
Research output is experimental and may contain errors or become outdated. No warranty is made about completeness, fitness for a particular purpose, uninterrupted API availability, or the continued availability of this page.
6. Compliance and discontinuation
The developer will correct or discontinue API use if requested by MyAnimeList, if access is revoked, or if the intended use can no longer comply with applicable terms. These Terms may be updated to reflect a material project or policy change.
